Upcoming OGHA Competitive Tryouts and Spring Hockey Participation

Feb. 17, 2026

To all current and future OGHA Members,

As we approach tryout season to form competitive teams for the 2026/27 season, the Board of Directors will soon share schedules, registration details, and information about what to expect.

In advance of that communication, we want to clarify an important expectation regarding spring hockey participation that might occur during tryouts.

Last season, there were a significant number of requests from players to be excused from scheduled tryout sessions in order to attend spring hockey events. This created concerns among participants about fairness and consistency in the evaluation process. The Board of Directors will always prioritize the integrity and fairness of our tryouts.

For the upcoming season, please note that players will not be excused from scheduled tryout sessions to attend spring hockey events. All players are expected to attend the sessions to which they are invited. Failure to attend a scheduled session may result in the player being released to the next level of tryouts.

Registering for OGHA Competitive hockey carries an expectation of commitment. Players who earn a spot on a competitive team are committing to that team as their primary sporting focus for the season. That commitment begins with the tryout process itself. Being present, prepared, and fully engaged in all scheduled tryout sessions is the first demonstration of that commitment — both to the association and to potential teammates.

Exceptions will only be considered in cases of injury, illness, or significant unavoidable family circumstances. In such situations, the Board may request supporting documentation (e.g., a doctor’s note). Any concerns regarding unavoidable absences should first be directed to the coach overseeing the tryout process.

Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare for another exciting season.
